When do I need to apply for this visa?

It is impossible to get a work permit visa before your employment. You need to find a company who is willing to sponsor you before applying for this visa. You can also start your own company to apply for Kitas.

As a foreigner, can I apply for any jobs in order to get this visa?

No.

Following the National Government Policy, the native citizens are a priority in any job applications. However, companies may show some proofs of the necessity for hiring foreigners in certain positions. Some positions are totally crossed off for foreigners while others may have some quotations.

How long does this visa give me?

You can apply for a five year working visa which can be extended yearly. 

At this moment the 5-year KITAS can only be granted if you are:

  • a director of  a PMA (Foreign Direct Investment) company in Indonesia.
  • a qualified personnel with both a degree and at least five years of relevant experience in your occupation.

Getting a Telex

Once the Ministry of manpower : Foreign Manpower Utilization Plan (RPTKA) employment plan and terms of validity are established, you need to pay 100 USD fee per month and apply for a work permit then you will be given IMTA (Indonesian Work Permit) and TELEX for your work visa-KITAS.

Telex is requested for the appointed Indonesian Embassy or Consulate where you are planning to get your visa and should be confirmed by the Head Office of Immigration Service of Indonesia in Jakarta. This process takes around 10 business days.

Documents to prepare by the hiring company:

  • A copy of ITAS online
  • A scanned colour copy of Wajib Lapor (WL)-Mandatory Manpower Report.
  • A scanned colour copy of health insurance (at least valid for one month).
  • A scanned copy of Bachelor Degree certificate in English (legalised).
  • A scanned  copy of the reference letter at least five years experience or certificate specialist of occupation.
  • A domicile letter of the sponsor company.
  • USD 1,200 Tax DPKK (only accept new USD series).
  • Company stamp.
  • A scanned copy of the company’s AKTA, SK Menteri, Izin Usaha, NIB, NPWP, and SKTU.
  • A scanned copy of the company’s Director.
  • A scanned copy of the employee and picture on a red background as the assistant of foreigners.
  • A scanned copy of the Accounting Department.
  • A scanned copy of the HRD team.
  • A scanned copy of the latest bank statement.
  • Detailed information of the foreigner.
  • A blank letterhead of the company (including e-mail, address, and phone number).

Documents to prepare by you as the applicant:

  • Your passport, must be valid for at least eight teen months after the date you enter Indonesia.
  • A copy of your main passport page.
  • Your CV (Curriculum Vitae) in English.

For each document that you provide (insurance, bachelor, reference letter), there is a possibility to do an ACC for 500,000 IDR for each document.

Obtaining the Visa from an Indonesian Embassy

Required documents:

  • Your passport, must be valid for at least eight teen months after the date you enter Indonesia.
  • A copy of your main passport page
  • A copy of the passport page with an entry stamp of the country you are applying from.
  • A completed  application form (The form is provided at the Embassy)
  • Two passport-size photos.
  • TELEX.
  • A Ticket to Indonesia.
  • 105 USD visa fee (may vary according to currency of the country where you are applying for the visa).

You will receive a visa called VITAS at this stage. Once you enter Indonesia, it will be converted into ITAS (Izin Tinggal Terbatas or Temporary Stay Permit). You will need to visit the local Immigration Office in order to do this. Following this, you need to get a MERP (Multiple Re-entry Permit) and a KITAS card (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas).

Visa Registration

Once you are granted a VITAS and arrive in Indonesia, you need to come to the local Immigration Office not later than 7 days upon your arrival date to register your visa and get a re-entry permit which is mandatory.

Extension and Closing of Work KITAS type 312:

 

  • You need to start your application at least two months before the expiration date of your current visa.
  • All required documents are the same as the first issuance.
  • Work KITAS should be closed properly before its expiration date.

Important Information

  1. Work permit costs $100 for each month.
  2. You are NOT allowed to work for any companies other than the company as stated in your KITAS as well as do extra jobs other than the job stated in your KITAS.
  3. In case you are granted a 6 month KITAS, you are required to leave the country within this 6 month period. If for some reason you have to overstay from those 6 months, you need to get a permission from the Immigration and pay the overstay penalty. You will be required to provide your return ticket.
  4. If you are granted a 1 year KITAS, you are required to apply for closing your KITAS before leaving the country.
